Venu Sports, a new sports streaming service, aims to be a comprehensive platform for watching athletic events, but concerns have been raised due to the control of sports content by Disney (owner of ESPN), Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery. Three members of Congress have called for an investigation into Venu for potential violations of antitrust laws, as the joint venture could force competitors to negotiate with the aforementioned companies for access to major sporting licensing rights. Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Representative Joaquin Castro have expressed concerns about potential price increases for consumers, especially considering Venu’s already high launch price of $43 a month. FuboTV also filed a lawsuit against Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros., alleging antitrust practices in relation to the new streaming service.
