Just five days after Turkey blocked Instagram, the country has now banned Roblox due to concerns of inappropriate sexual content that could be exploiting children, as reported by Türkiye Today. The ban was also attributed to the promotion of homosexuality and incentives for children within the game. The regulator mentioned the challenge of monitoring content on Roblox and imposed countrywide restrictions following an investigation by the chief public prosecutor’s office. This move follows the recent blocking of Instagram in Turkey after a dispute over Hamas-related content. Turkish authorities have a history of banning major social media services, including Twitter last year following an earthquake, and YouTube and Twitter in 2014. Roblox has faced its own issues, with lawsuits accusing the company of child exploitation and enabling sexual exploitation. Discord, Snap, and Meta were also named in one of the lawsuits against Roblox.
