US labor board accuses Apple of violating employees’ rights

Since 2022, Apple has been embroiled in controversy with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), accused of anti-union practices and violating workers’ rights. Despite agreeing to review its labor practices last January, the NLRB has once again accused Apple of denying employees the right to discuss wages and coercing them to sign illegal nondisclosure agreements. Former Apple employees Cher Scarlett and Ashley Gjøvik have raised complaints about the company prohibiting wage discussions and CEO Tim Cook’s alleged punishment of leakers. Gjøvik additionally claimed that staff were restricted from speaking to reporters. Apple has issued a statement to Reuters, maintaining that it respects employees’ rights to discuss work-related matters. If the case is not settled, it will be heard by an administrative judge in January.
