Hopoo Games, the developer behind the cult hit roguelike platformer “Risk of Rain,” has announced a hiatus, with co-founders Paul Morse and Duncan Drummond, along with other team members, joining Valve. This move halts production on their unannounced game “Snail,” and the future of the project remains uncertain. Some staff will be moving to Valve, while details of those staying or leaving are unclear. The company expressed gratitude to Valve for their partnership and confirmed the cessation of “Snail” production. Speculation suggests former Hopoo staff may be working on Valve’s upcoming MOBA shooter “Deadlock.” Additionally, Hopoo’s successful title “Risk of Rain” and its sequel have garnered acclaim, showcasing challenging gameplay dynamics and simple yet engaging mechanics.
