Over three months after Apple introduced watchOS 11 at WWDC 2024, the update is now available for installation on your smartwatch. The new features include the Vitals app, sleep apnea detection, and widget improvements, with the sleep apnea detection feature working on older models like the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Vitals app collects overnight health data in one place, establishing baselines for metrics and alerting you to any anomalies. The Training Load feature measures workout intensity over time and supports 17 workout types. Additional updates include the ability to pause and customize Activity ring goals, contextually-based widgets in the Smart Stack, Live Activities, a Check In feature, new pregnancy tracking in the Cycles app, and a Double Tap API for hands-free controls. To download watchOS 11, first install iOS 18 on your paired iPhone, then navigate to General > Software Update in the Watch app to update to the 2024 software.
