WhatsApp’s latest update will soon allow users to add contacts from any device, not just their primary phone, making contact management easier. This feature will be available on the web client, Windows PC, and eventually on other linked devices. Users can save contacts exclusively to WhatsApp without syncing to a phone, ideal for sharing devices or managing multiple WhatsApp accounts. Additionally, the app is introducing usernames, eliminating the need to save contacts by phone number, enhancing privacy. This update will also help users restore contacts if they lose their phone. The multi-device contacts tool will roll out gradually, with no set timeline for usernames. In recent news, WhatsApp has also unveiled enhanced video calling and enabled passkey support on iOS.
