Talks between Apple and the union for the Apple Store in Oklahoma City have resulted in a tentative agreement that includes new benefits and protections for its staff. The Penn Square Mall Apple Store in Oklahoma City announced a “tentative labor agreement” with Apple and the Communication Workers of America (CWA). While terms are still being negotiated, the proposed benefits for employees are substantial. The three-year agreement would provide employees with a wage increase of up to 11.5 percent. Employees would receive a 4 percent raise in the first year, followed by 3 percent raises in the second and third years, based on performance. The agreement also includes guaranteed paid time off, health benefits, employee input in scheduling, and the establishment of a grievance submission process for a safer workplace. The Oklahoma City Apple Store, the second in the US to unionize, is set to vote on the agreement on September 22. CWA District 6 Vice President Derrick Osobase referred to the agreement as a historic achievement. Other Apple Stores have also made efforts to unionize, with the Towson Town Center location becoming the first to unionize and the Cumberland Mall store attempting to form a union in 2022.
