Building a smartphone from scratch would already be a massive challenge, let alone constructing one that is 100 times larger while maintaining the same forms and functions. YouTubers Matthew Perkins and Arun Maini successfully built a functioning replica of an iPhone 15 Pro Max that stood at 6.74 feet tall and weighed 440 pounds, earning them an official Guinness World Record. Perkins tackled the project by converting a LG Signature 88-inch OLED TV into a large touchscreen, while also fitting oversized versions of the phone’s components into a frame made of aluminum. Although they couldn’t replicate the closed-source iOS operating system, they used Android with Bliss OS to recreate the iPhone home screen and install Flappy Bird. Despite its size, the giant phone was tested in real-life scenarios and was found to be fully functional for tasks like tap-to-pay purchases, sending emails, and making video calls. However, carrying around a $70,000 phone on the streets of London without a case was a brave move.
