DJI has further solidified its position in the action camera market by launching the Action 5 Pro, challenging GoPro’s dominance. The new camera features a “next-gen” sensor that promises improved video quality, extended battery life, larger displays, and subject tracking and centering capabilities. The sensor boasts 13.5 stops of dynamic range and a maximum photo resolution of 40 megapixels. The camera supports 4K shooting at up to 120p in 16:9, and now includes 4K 120p capture at 4:3 for more flexibility. It offers features like 10-bit D-Log M and HLG for enhanced dynamic range, as well as a SuperNight mode for improved low-light performance. The new 1950mAh battery allows for up to 4 hours of continuous use. Additionally, the Action 5 Pro is waterproof up to 20m without a case, offers larger OLED screens, and includes features like built-in storage, Wi-Fi 6.0, and a pressure gauge for underwater recording. Despite the enhancements, the Action 5 is available at a lower price point than its predecessor, starting at $349.
