Starlink has reversed its decision to not comply with Brazil’s X ban, as stated in a message posted on X, amidst legal proceedings initiated by the company in the Brazilian Supreme Court. Despite the freezing of Starlink’s finances, the company is adhering to the order to block access to X in Brazil, while continuing to challenge the legality of the situation. Following the Supreme Court’s order to block X, the platform became largely unavailable in Brazil, leaving only VPNs or access through Starlink as options. Starlink refused to comply with the court order until officials released its frozen assets, resulting in blocked local bank accounts. With around 250,000 customers in Brazil, Starlink has promised free internet access to its users despite the block on its accounts. The Supreme Court panel upheld the X ban and approved fines for VPN usage to access X, while Starlink faces the threat of losing its license in Brazil.
