Unity released the latest version of its engine, Unity 6, with new features for creating online multiplayer games and tools for mobile platforms. The update promises improved performance, particularly in graphics rendering, and adds features for creating realistic environments. However, the company faced public backlash when it attempted to revise its pricing structure, resulting in a leadership shakeup and a massive workforce reduction. After walking back most of the changes, Unity ultimately dropped the controversial fee entirely in September.
