The emotional indie game “To the Moon,” released in 2011, is set to be playable on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 as announced by developer Freebird Games and publisher Serenity Forge this week. The console ports are scheduled for release on October 8 at a price of $10, alongside a new installment in the series titled “Just a To the Moon Series Beach Episode,” which offers one of the series’ endings and is currently available on Steam. “To the Moon” is a poignant time travel adventure following two doctors who grant dying patients their greatest dreams by delving into their memories. The story revolves around an elderly man named Johnny whose final wish is to visit the moon. Originally launched for PC, the game has since expanded to mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch. Freebird Games also released subsequent episodes such as “Finding Paradise” and “Imposter Factory,” along with a heartfelt short called “A Bird Story,” all known for their emotionally moving narratives. The latest release, “Beach Episode,” is described by the developer as “half of an ending” to the series.
